JAN: Sea Slugs - Nudibranchs and their relatives (Opisthobranchs).

FEB: Pink - Any subject with the color pink as the predominant/main color.

MAR: Critter on Critter - Where one animal in upon another. Ex emperor shrimp on sea cucumber, shrimp on a star, nudibranch on frogfish.

APR: Spots - Animals with spots.

MAY: Head Dress - Decorations on the head, often meant to break up the image of a head or a sense organ. things like cirri, other projections, or items on the head that may be placed there by the animal. EX certain blennies, scorpion fish, decorator crab with item on it's head.

JUN: Eggs - Images that show a single or group of eggs. These would not be hatching yet.

JUL: Rays - Characterized by their flattened, disk-like bodies, enlarged pectoral fins fused to their heads, and gill slits located on their ventral surfaces.

AUG: Yawning Fish - Fish with a wide open mouth that looks like a yawn.

SEP: Venomous to Touch - Animals that are venomous have irritating secretions, or stinging cells - These are animals that if you touch them with bare hands can cause pain or even death. They are animals with spines that can prick, harming with venom; (ex. Sting rays, bristle worms, sea urchins, scorpionfish): animals that have irritating secretions, and animals that sting (fire coral, jelly fish, siphonophore). Excludes animals that bite.

OCT: Diagonal Composition - Uses lines, shapes or edges that move the viewer's eye through the image. This can be leading lines going from corner to corner, or elements that lead the viewer’s eye across and around an image.

NOV: Close Focus/Wide Angle - Wide angle images with a subject very close to the lens, while also including a background, creating a sense of depth.
