There are many sea creatures that lay eggs in the ocean. In California waters horn shark eggs can be found form February to May. Nudibranch eggs decorate the reef looking like spirals of ribbons or spaghetti. Snail eggs can be found looking like beads. Octopus eggs are usually attached to the top of a small hiding place in the reef were the octopus also stays keeping watch over the eggs. Sea creature eggs can be attached to algae, the reef or just lying on the sandy bottom. Once you spot them you know what to look for.
